sinus spike

The sharp but short-lived sensation of pain one normally gets in the sinus cavity upon eating wasabi or horseradish sauce. It cannot be soothed by drinking or eating anything else to cleanse the palate, it can only be endured.

Ah, oh, here it comes, the sinus spike from that bit of wasabi I ate. Oh please make it stop! It hurts so bad! Okay, it's fading now. Can I have more, please?

crush depth

Crush depth: when you have accumulated so much stuff that it begins to interfere with living. (a) It could be clutter, meaning stuff heaped upon stuff with no place to put it. (b) But it doesn't necessarily have to be "clutter." It could be the result of extrapolating the adage "the more you own the more it owns you" to its natural conclusion, stating that your joy of acquisition has turned into to the burden of maintenance / fixing things.

Honey, I can't take another Christmas in this small house. We are at crush depth already--there is nowhere left to put all the kids' junk!

Fugue

A romantic flight of the imagination directed at someone who cannot reciprocate or is otherwise unavailable. It disconnects one from reality and keeps you in a state of being unavailable to others who actually might be interested. It differs from "infatuation" in that the waters have been tested and you have been rejected but you still want that person just as bad and still have hopeful fantasies about maybe, someday.... It differs from "being stuck on someone" because you were never a couple.

Forget it man, she isn't interested. You have a fugue going on and just have to wrap your head around reality. There are other fish in the sea.

T-boned

an adaptation of a previously used term for "broadside collision" to the frequent "near collisions / emergency stops" which are common to self-driving vehicles (for example Tesla) that only brake at the last minute.

What the f***, that Tesla T-boned me, nearly hit me broadside. Scared the s*** out of me.
