In the 30-60's there were criminals that where part of Organised crime like Al Capone and committed crimes such as Racketeering, counterfeiting, illegal gambling, illegal drug dealing, and murder and were also know as mobsters
Today's gangsters are just people who don't how to spell the word and spell it gangsta however they still do some of the crimes up above but they are pussies and weaklings.
However people still think of gangsters in the the earlier times due to movies like the Godfather and Goodfellas.

Modern day Gangster: *spells gangsta*
Random guy:*walks up to gangster* it spelled "Gangster" not "Gangsta".
Gangster: I'm gonna shoot yo dawg. *pulls out hand gun*
Random guy: * gives light slap*
Gangster:*cries like wa wa*
