Fob

In New Zealand, it is a word to describe Pacific Islanders that came straight from the Islands and cant talk any english such as Samoans, Tongans and Fijians.

Two or three generations before me, Pacific Islanders came to New Zealand in banana boats and had no knowledge of the english language or culture so thats what I think "Fresh off the boat" means

The Word 'Fob' can be derogatory, if used by MAINLY(not all) white people but those of Pacific decent that were New Zealand born use it to differentiate between themselves (who are called "Plastic") and people that come from the Islands that cant talk english.

M: look at that girl, is she a fob
Y: yeah, didn't you hear her. She has broken english.
