bin game

A game played by housemates or colleagues responsible for the upkeep of a communal area in order to determine who empties the bin, which, if the game has been played to a high standard, has been overflowing for some time...
The game revolves around the basic concept that whoever causes the first item to fall off the top of the now festering pile of trash automatically loses the game and has to dispose of the lot.
Particularly prevalent among student communities.

"Do me a favour and get me some rubber gloves; I just lost the bin game."

trash offset

Similar to carbon offset, trash offsetting is the act of voluntarily picking up and disposing of trash/litter from the street, in order that at some later stage one can drop one's own with a clear conscience.
If done responsibly the concept often eliminates the inconvenience of having to find an appropriate receptacle for items of waste, while also having a net gain for the environment.

"Hey man, you can't just leave that burger wrapper in the street!"
"Hell yeah I can, I picked up three cans today."
"Trash offsetting huh?"
