Bihari is the name for an ethnic-linguistic group with roots in the present Indian state of Bihar. Biharis speak one of many of the different languages of Bihar such as Magadhi, Bajjika, Bhojpuri, Maithili as well as Hindi or Urdu.
Bihari diaspora refers to the people with roots in Bihar who have migrated to different parts of India and world. Ethnic Biharis live in large numbers in Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Fiji, Mauritius, Surinam, Trinidad and Guyana.
