Some blacks in Washington,D.C.(black majority) did not want Sharon Pratt Dixon as a mayor because she is a light skin black and mayoral candidate Marion Berry tried to have his light skin wife darken her skin.These are incidents of reverse colorism.

Dark skin blacks were considered negroes. Light skin blacks and brown skin blacks were also considered mulatto. Mulatto is considered a racist term.
