A now seldom used Mancunian colloquialism for an area of derelict ground.
As children growing up in 1970's inner city Manchester, we would spend many hours playing on nearby crofts - usually old pe-existing bombsites from WW2, or rubble strewn areas left over from the slum clearances of the 50's and 60's.
"C'mon Tommy, we're going to build a new den on the croft, cos them Rusholme lads have ragged the old one!"
