Also spelt yé. A Nigerian colloquialism or exclamation used to express surprise (usually in a negative or very unexpected context) or just to lament a bad or unexpected situation. Popular Burna Boy song of the same name is a good example of usage

Guy : My brothers wife slept with the driver

Friend: ye

OR

Doctor: Your wife has stage iv cancer

Husband: Yé o!
