Patriarchy

A standard set on society which affects both men and women. This sets the standard that men should be the leader of the home over the wife and children. Another standard which is set for men is that they have to hide their emotions, or they’ll be looked down on in society. For the women, one of their standards is that they have to be the stay-at-home wife, the caretakers, the weaker sex. Another standard that women have to live up to are the beauty standards. A few of them are having no body hair, having a low amount of fat on the stomach area but large breasts, ass, thighs and a small waist.

There are 4 people having a conversation about the patriarchy. 2 Men, 2 Women

Man 1: Hey ‘Woman 1’. Aren’t you a believer of the patriarchy?

Woman 1: Yes. I believe that only women are opressed by the patriarchy. The beauty and stay at home standards.

Man 2: But what about men?

Woman 1: They are the ones who set the standards.

Woman 2: So are you saying there aren’t any standards against men?

Woman 1: Yes, In my belief.

Man 1: But what about the idea that all men need to be this masculine image that no-one can live up to.

Man 2: Or the fact that we need to hide our true emotions from everyone.

Woman 2: Yeah, the patriarchy affects us all. Men, women, between races and ethnic groups, rich, poor.
