An adjective indicating that someone feels like an outsider within their inner circle of friends. Comes from valence electrons always being on the outside of an atom, even though they are still a part of it.

Jessica: “Do you want to come to my sleepover?”

Tammy: “Do you really want me to? I’ve been feeling kind of valent recently and thought you weren’t going to invite me.”
