Gaelic term in olden years referring to an English/Saxon person, most often in a derogatory way. After pervasive use in the Starz television show Outlander, it now can be used as a term of endearing passion and affection towards oneâs partner or spouse ie pertaining to a dearly and passionately loved one:
Kevin said to his wife Oona, âSassenach, you are blood of my blood and bone of my bone. I give you my body, that we two might be one. I give you my spirit, until our life shall be done.â
