Season 2 Switcharoo

The Season 2 Switcharoo is an ideological bait and switch.

When a Television series avoids taking political positions and focuses on good story and characters in it's first season only to go full on current year politics in follow up seasons.

The writers and producers know that people want to be entertained not preached at. So they lure people in, get them invested with an apolitical high quality first season and only to then start beating them over the head with their Ideology in season 2 onwards.

Example:
Hot new Science fiction series

Season 1: A thoughtful space opera dealing First contact and how different people deal with the ramifications.

It's apolitical focused on telling an interesting story and set pieces & people love it.

Season 2: Black Lesbians dealing with racism and homophobia in SPAAAAAACEEEE.

Its character focused merely as a thinly veiled excuse for the writers room to beat you over the head with their political beliefs. Audience dislikes it more than likes it.

Season 3: Cancelled after 4 episodes.

"Dammit I really liked that show/movie but they went and pulled a Season 2 Switcharoo and now its unwatchable."

Film based on a superhero or comic book franchise

Guy 1: "hey you wanna go see captain america?"
Guy 2: "no i'm really over capeshit at the moment"

Haunted File

A haunted file is a file in a law firm where something bad happens every time it is touched almost as if the spirits are angry.

Steve: "Hey Jenn, are you okay you look upset?"
Jenn: "I was all ready to go away for the weekend but then I got an email from the other side in the Jones file that they have filed an emergency motion so now I'm gonna be in the office all weekend."
Steve: "Did you touch that file before you got that email?"
Jenn: "Yeah, I did a quick check of the critical dates to ensure they were in my calendar"

Steve: "Yep, you touched the haunted file and now the spirits are angry with you"

Typically used in Law Firms this concept can also be extended into any professional field with minor modification.

Mike the electrician: "Damn I installed a GFCI and then had to spend 4 hours fault detecting"
Joe the electrician: "Let me guess MANUFACTUROR X?"
Mike: "Yeah how did you know?"
Joe: "They make haunted parts, if you put them in a house the spirits get angry"

Why oh why did I touch the Haunted File, I didn't even need to.
