Ugledar

1) A new Russian word for nightmare. Originates from the Russian name for the Ukrainian mining town of Vuhledar. Russia launched numerous failed attempts to storm the town, resulting in huge scores of Russian soldiers and equipment being brutally destroyed on a daily basis by the defending Ukrainians.

2) The name of Vuhledar in Russian.

Uh-oh. This is turning into Ugledar.

Jim Harbaugh

Head coach of the Michigan Wolverines, and the 2023 College Football National Champion. Outright.

After so many years of Michigan football agony, Jim Harbaugh finally led Michigan to their first national title since 1997.

Vuhledar

1) To put an unnecessarily large effort into a victory that would be minor at best and Pyrrhic at worst. Named after the numerous failed attempts by the Russian army to capture the tiny coal mining town of Vuhledar which resulted in huge scores of Russian soldiers and equipment being brutally destroyed on a daily basis by the defending Ukrainians.

2) A tiny coal-mining town in Donetsk Oblast near Volnovakha and Mariupol. The town is stationed on a high ground, which enabled the Ukrainian defenders to inflict massive losses on the Russian attackers (see definition 1).

Just cut your losses already, you don't want this to turn into Vuhledar.

Mariupol

1) A port city in Southeastern Ukraine in the Donetsk Oblast on the Sea of Azov. This was the largest city on the Sea of Azov prior to 2022. In 2022, Mariupol was besieged and completely destroyed by Russian forces in a brutal three month long siege. The Russians committed a slew of horrific war crimes such as bombing a theater sheltering children in the siege of Mariupol that have caused international repulsion. Over 22,000 Ukrainians were killed in Mariupol during the siege, and thousands fled the city.

2) To completely destroy someone or something after brutal, prolonged, and nonstop battering, whether physical or mental.

- It is truly sickening to see how the Russians have reduced the once-bustling city of Mariupol to ruins after 3 months.

- The Russians are preparing to Mariupol another city in Ukraine.

Donetsk

1) A Ukrainian city of just around 1 million people that is the capital of Donetsk Oblast. This city is a hub for the east of Ukraine, specifically the Donbas region. The city is famous for the soccer/football team Shakhtar Donetsk and their home stadium, Donbas Arena.

Since 2014, Russia has terrorized and occupied the city as part of the so-called Donetsk People's Republic, and the city was severely damaged. Most notably, the Russian army destroyed the renovated Donetsk Airport built in 2012.

However, even under occupation, Donetsk is an undeniably Ukrainian city.

2) An oblast of Ukraine located in the east of the country. Large cities include Donetsk, Mariupol, Makiivka, Horlivka, and Kramatorsk.

3) Short for Shakhtar Donetsk, one of the two dominant teams of Ukrainian football.

1) Donetsk sounded like an incredible city, until Russian terrorists came and ruined it.

2) Donetsk Oblast is one of two oblasts in the Donbas.

3) Shakhtar Donetsk is playing today.

Horlivka

The fourth-largest city in Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine. This city is home to numerous coal mines, as well as a major university, the Horlivka Institute for Foreign Languages. Many famous Ukrainians came from Horlivka, such as chessmaster Ruslan Ponomariov and the metal band Jinjer.

In 2014, Horlivka was captured by Russian terrorists and incorporated into the so-called "Donetsk People's Republic". During this, Russian terrorists would kidnap and torture Horlivka city councillor and former policeman Volodymyr Rybak for refusing to take down the Ukrainian flag from the city and submit to the Russians. Rybak would be awarded posthumously with the highest honor of Ukraine

After Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022, Ukraine launched an offensive toward Horlivka. They managed to capture the western half of the city. If Ukraine succeds in completely retaking the city and holding it, this puts the Russian terrorists of the "DPR" in danger, as the road to Donetsk will be cleared.

Horlivka is Ukraine, as shown by Volodymyr Rybak.

I'm surprised how many famous Ukrainians came from the industrial city of Horlivka.

Makiivka

1) A large city in Eastern Ukraine adjacent to Donetsk. This is the third largest city in Donetsk Oblast, after Donetsk and Mariupol. The city has one of the largest engineering schools in Ukraine, the Donbas National Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture. The two cities of Donetsk and Makiivka are heavily intertwined, with the western border of Makiivka even reaching the city center of Donetsk.

Just like Donetsk, Makiivka was overrun by Russian terrorists in 2014.

In 2023, to start the New Year, Ukraine attacked a Russian base with HIMARS in Makiivka and killed over 600 Russian soldiers. They located the base because Russian soldiers forgot to turn off geolocation on their phones. The attack was so lethal because the soldiers were crammed into one building and stored all of their ammo in the basement.

Makiivka is Ukraine.

2) Russian idiocy. In a base in this city, Russian soldiers were attacked because they forgot to turn off geolocation on their phones. The attack was so lethal because the soldiers were crammed into one building and stored all of their ammo in the basement.

3) A Russian word for nightmare, just like Vuhledar / Ugledar. This word for nightmare in Russian is known as Makeevka / Makeyevka , as Makiivka is the Ukrainian name of the city.

1) I heard all of the engineers in Ukraine want to be admitted to Makiivka.

2) Russia is really pulling another Makiivka with their logistics.

3) Do you really want to create a new Makiivka for us, Sergei?
