Lost my tackle

To suffer a financial loss, or to lose something valuable, generally through bad luck or bad investment of which one is only partially responsible, variation on, but less complete than, 'hook, line and sinker'.

Yea i don't know how it happened either but I lost my tackle on that house

The 2008 Market Crash should be investigated: almost two years after the mortgage crisis and everyone lost their tackle.

Lindsey caught me with Jane after that party; lost my tackle on that one.

Barbed

To sign, or have signed, a contract with a mobile phone service provider with severe early termination financial penalties.

Switched to an HTC phone with AT&T so I'm getting barbed by Verizon.

Dropped the rod

To suffer complete loss, or to lose everything or all your gear, often in relation to financial troubles, or in social events, generally through one's own ineptness or hubris. A variant of the phrase 'hook, line and sinker'.

After we hooked up I forgot to call her, now she won't talk to me. Dropped the rod on that one.

OMG I think I just dropped my rod getting out of this condo mortgage!!!
