TWATS

TWATS or T.W.A.T.S military type jargon acronym for The War Against Terrorist Supremecy. Often used by those wanker journalsts, who are fond of using terms like 9/11, WTC, ACM and IED and 'The Sandpit', to establish some 'cred' for themselves.

Oh yeah, I've been following TWATS since before 9/11. The use of IED's by ACM has certainly increased in 'The Sandpit', since then.

Sandpit

Military slang for the middle east, especially those nations with sandy deserts eg Iraq, Saudi Arabia. Usually just refered to as 'The Sandpit'

Looks like the Army's sending for another tour in 'the sandpit'. Last time I was there I was stuck in Baghdad for 9 months.

rock ape

A derogatory white Australian slang term for an Aborigine. Most commonly used in the Northern Territory, where modern Aboriginal culture has been defined by generational poverty, primative living conditions, poor levels of education, alcholism and violence, to the point where Redneck Australia can feel that they are more cultured and civilised than those stupid rock apes.

Those rock apes are less than human. You see 'em in the streets comming up to you, saying "hey mista, gotta dolla? Got smoke?", and they're always drinking, sniffing petrol and fighting. Why can't they be more like us white people?

boung

Boung or boong (pronounced b-ouh-ng, with the ng sounding like the ng in 'ing')
Yet another example of the white fella's ability to make a random sound and turn it into a derogatory remark. Probably came about as an attempt to mimic one of the many Aboriginal languages (as in "chinese sounds like chingchogwaaafliedlice", "french sounds like ahahaweeweelebaggette",etc...).
Used throughout Australia, mostly by middle-aged to older/elderly Australians, in reference to any Aboriginal or Islander person; and occassionally in reference to other dark skinnned people (Maori, Fijian, Samoan, African) until the white speaker discovers that they aren't Aboriginal. Then they are immediately assumed to be a better class of non-white.

"I say, Meryl, did you see that a tribe of boungs has moved into the house down the street? Tell you what, they're really going to bring down the value of the neighbourhood, what with the fighting and drinking that those types get up to."
"Well I ran into the wife earlier today, John. They're not boungs, they're Samoans."
"Really? Oh well, that's a new kettle of fish altogether then. Samoans are such lovely, polite people."

rice coon

Racist term for darker skinned Asiatic people, in particular Timorese, Malaysian, Filipino and Indonesians.

A lot of rice coons came over here in leaky fishing boats.
