A "penvy" cut is any hairstyle worn by a female that resembles a man's haircut. Usually short in appearance, but may be up to shoulder length. A penvy style haircut must be generally masculine in a apperance to be considered a penvy
The hairstyle was popular during the late 20th Century, from the late eighties to early nineties. It has since been revived by a great number of females living in smaller towns and rural areas. It is generally considered that females who suffer from "penis envy" are the ones most likely to sport the hairstyle. Penvies (plural) have been worn by females of all ages.
Numerous examples of the "Penvy" can be seen worn by females at Confederation College, where it has been observed that a majority of the female faculty and staff sport the low maintenance, masculin hairstyle.
"Just look at the penvy on her!" said one student to another.
