Matrix Agent

Similar to a Non-Player-Character, a Matrix Agent is a person or persons who seem or act as though 'programmed' to respond or behave in scripted ways. Unlike an NPC, the Matrix Agent connotation implies some cognizant understanding of their simulated world, while nonetheless believing in that world and following their programming within it.

All of the people in that neighborhood seem like Matrix Agents.

We were driven home by an autonomous vehicle, which is a system of systems.
