verb - when a person acts for oneâs self and/or oneâs people as best one can with the tools available with neither selfless or selfish intentions thereby removing positive and negative connotations from the choices made and thereby creating a third option which takes relativism into account. Selfing is the process by which one pursues their personal and community well-being while functioning in social and physical life that does not ignore large and same scale ethical challenges as one tries to do the best they can with the tools available to them.
Ex1: âIt blows my mind how much I've said no to people who've asked me to help with things or give them things these last few months but selfing like this has helped me get back to who I was before I got into that bad relationship."
Ex2: âYeah Iâm selfing right now with all the money I'm saving from my job and budgeting to stay on top of things so my living situation is almost at the point where Iâll never have to worry about not having a place to stay ever again and Iâm even getting a good work/life balance; if my parents would just stop calling me every single day, every other is enough mom. â
Ex3: "Sometimes I can't believe I keep the rent paid, the utilities and internet connected, food on my family's table and my medical insurance up to date and can still go out and have fun with my job and budget while I navigate the confusing world of end stage capitalism and try and find a balance within my ethics and but I think I'm being pretty decent at selfing so far.â
