Nickname for Fox News, coined by CNN's Jim Acosta during the Saturday segment of Newsroom (on May 1, 2021) where Acosta criticized Fox for misrepresenting stories on Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. The term gained popularity on Twitter, along with the hash tag #FoxNewsBullshitFactory as it went viral.
During his show, Acosta referred to multiple recent stories from Fox News. The one which inspired the use of "bullshit factory" was the false story that Kamala Harris was, for financial gain, including copies of her children's book in "welcome kits" at the border. According to Acosta, "that tale from the border didn't just border on B.S., this was USDA Grade-A bullshit. And the New York Post reporter who wrote the story resigned, claiming she was forced to make it up. But the damage was done, pumped out over the airwaves at the bullshit factory also known as FOX News."
