A person who purchases items within the value-tier of its respective market (clothing, vehicles, wristwatches, firearms, etc.) and asserts that these items are "just as good" as luxury-tier items that go for a street price two to three times higher than the item in question. Often a just-as-gooder is looking to justify their purchase and is in denial regarding the harsh reality that the age old adage "you get what you pay for" is often true.
This item is extremely pricey, but contrary to what your just-as-gooder friend may tell you, the price is well justified in the quality of the design and the materials used.
A pejorative term for a person, containing multiple negative implications and associations.
Implications include:
1. Low-class economically and/or socially (similar to calling someone a rube)
2. Unreliable and likely to back-out of an intent to buy or hire (comparable to calling someone a "tire kicker")
3. Dishonest, especially in matters of business or money
4. A vagrant or wanderer
5. A person from the New-Jersey Turnpike area
6. Cheap and miserly (due to the presence of tolls on the New-Jersey Turnpike)
The term derives from both the British slang "Pikey" (a derisive term for Gypsies), as well as the more modern American associations with the New-Jersey Turnpike area.
That company tried to nickel-and-dime me on salary negotiations. What a bunch of Pikers!
A term for a man who provides free technical services (electronics, cars, carpentry, plumbing, home improvement, etc.) for a woman in the hopes of one day dating her. He is often seen pulling up to a woman's house in his Honda with his toolkit ready to help her out, hence the term. Harry Honda doesn't care though, in his mind performing acts of service is the only way to win a woman's affection.
That's the third time this week I've seen that Harry Honda guy parking in Stephanie's driveway. When is he going to learn she'll never date him, no matter how many times he fixes her plumbing?
