ARMY is a collective term for the fans of popular South Korean boy-group, BTS.
ARMY stands for Adorable Representative M.C. for Youth, and ARMY is especially known by media to be an infinitely dedicated and loving fanbase for their beloved BTS. American media has taken note of this recently, but in Korea, ARMY has remained prominent over the last few years in the idol community.
Although ARMY is technically an abbreviation, hence the capitalization of its letters, it is much more common to see it being used as the improper noun âarmyâ meaning legion of soldiers, and as such it can be lowercase with no periods denoting abbreviation.
Additionally, there are different subsections of ARMY.
⢠âK-ARMYâ denotes Korean ARMY.
⢠âI-ARMYâ denotes International ARMY, and basically means any BTS fans whose nationality isnât Korean.
Person 1: Hey, do you listen to K-pop? I saw you followed EXO on Twitter.
Person 2: Yeah, I like K-pop. I mostly listen to boy groups like BTS.
Person 1: Oh, cool! Are you ARMY?

âno-jamsâ (pronounced like it looks) is a derogatory term for members of the BTS fandom (known collectively as ARMY) that act out of pocket and perpetuate old BTS memes and stereotypes about the members.
The term itself comes from a very popular clip of BTS leader RM (Kim Namjoon) telling another BTS member Jimin (Park Jimin) that he had âno jamsâ, a nonsensical phrase that instantly became popular with ARMY for its weirdness. Over time, as with many memes, it became overused, and now ARMY uses the term to reference other ARMY who act cringy when discussing the members.
The term isnât widely used by many K-ARMY or even I-ARMY for that matter, but it is most popular with American ARMY on Twitter, and occasionally Instagram.
You can identify âno-jamsâ if they believe RM canât walk two feet without breaking something, that Suga has no feelings, or any other widely inaccurate and overused stereotypes of the members of BTS.
âHey, did you see this tweet by @clumsynamjoonoppa?: âkekeke there joon goes again breaking lamps keke donât let him hold the awards he might break themââ
âUgh, thatâs such a no-jams thing to say.â
