Common plural nick name given by the British to the Americans, often associated with the national stereotype i.e: fat, lazy, stupid, arrogant, ignorant arseholes who take the glory from anyone and everyone and pass it on as their achievement.

Brian: "Oi! i thought the yanks were supposed to be here by now."
