The Price is Right

Popular game show that debuted in the early 1970s. Consists mainly of numbers-based games where you guess the potential retail price of random items from laundry detergent to dining sets to brand new cars. Guests compete to win said items if selected at the initial guessing game at the beginning of the show.

The show is subject to many modern day pop-culture references due to it being a popular afternoon show on weekdays throughout the 1980s-1990s which is why many Millennials today remember the show mainly from being home sick from school and it constantly playing on TV during that time.

90s kids: "I was sick so I couldn't come to school. I just laid in bed and watched the price is right all day."

Emo

A social trend of the early to mid 2000s. Characterized by angsty teenagers, mainly from middle class suburban families, dressing in tight pants (often girl jeans), studded belts, black band t-shirts, and heavy use of eye liner with dark straightened hair with crispy bangs meant to cover one eye.

Music tastes tend to be a form of rock characterized by whiny depressed lyrics about some deep seeded emotional issue.

The Emo trend gave rise to toxic social media where dealing with insecurity meant creating an embellished internet personality to appeal to the masses rather than actually learning to love and accept yourself for who you really are.

The Emo era ended sometime in the late 2000s when Myspace began giving way to Facebook. The fashion and music tastes died out but the general attitude of "depression is cool" remained to this day.

Look at that emo kid. He's cuter on Myspace than in person.
