sisyphus

A person or object doing something that is seen as futile and repetitive, usually taking a long time to finally get the satisfaction of completion. The term is in reference to the Greek myth of Sisyphus, who is punished by being forced to roll a boulder up a mountain, only for the boulder to fall back once nearing the top.

A: "I just finished my work and then my boss gave me more to do."
B: "Wow, you are exactly like Sisyphus."
