Shock and Awe

Catchword from 2003 used originally to describe a part of the Baghdad bombing campaign by the US. May or may not have actually happened. A prime example of irrational excitement over something taken out of context.

I've been watching the US Iraq bombings waiting to see this shock and awe thing everyone has been talking about.

National Pandemic

Catchword from late 2005 used to describe the effects of the "bird-flu" which, as of right now, has only killed 60 Asian poultry farmers.

Will probably be looked back upon like the ideas of "Shock and Awe" and "Y2K"

I heard some guy on CNN saying that the bird-flu will be a national pandemic if it ever gets to the US.
