verb; when driving around looking for a parking space and as you pull up to one you thought was empty, you see that it is in fact taken already by a short car.

My friend and zipped down the first row of parking spaces to secure a spot we thought was empty, only to be short car'd.

Since I drive a short car, I make sure to not pull into a parking space all the way as to not short car other people.
