system of a down

system of a down is an armenian-american band formed in glendale california in 1994. members: serj tankian (lead vocalist, keyboards) daron malakian (guitar, vocals), shavo odadjian (bass, backing vocals), and john dolmayan (drums), who replaced original drummer andy khachaturian. their most popular songs are toxicity (from the toxicity album), chop suey (toxicity), sugar (self titled), and B.Y.O.B. (mezmerize). their genre is considered nu-metal, or prog metal, although they don't like to stick with a genre and just do whatever they want. many people call them "poser metal", but that isn't the case at all. they just do as they want. not all metal has to be thrash, there are many different metal sub-genres. in their songs, they sing about genocides, suicide, drugs, politics, etc. i really suggest listening to them! if you want to learn more about them, you should read their wiki page.

my favorite system of a down songs are CUBErt and darts! (self titled)

weezer

weezer is an american rock band formed in los angeles california in 1992. the band has consisted of rivers cuomo (lead vocals, guitar, keyboards), patrick wilson (drums, backing vocals), brian bell (guitar, keyboards, backing vocals), and matt sharp (bassist). they have sold 10 million albums in the US and more than 35 million worldwide. in 1993, weezer released their critically acclaimed self-titled debut album, also known as the blue album, in may 1994. backed by music videos for the singles "Buddy Holly", "Undone – The Sweater Song", and "Say It Ain't So", the blue album became a multiplatinum success. weezer's second album, pinkerton (1996),was a commercial failure and initially received mixed reviews, but achieved cult status and critical acclaim years later. both the blue album and pinkerton are now frequently cited among the best albums of the 1990s. following the tour for pinkerton, the founding bassist, matt sharp, left and Weezer went on hiatus. in 2001, weezer returned with the green album with their new bassist, mikey welsh. with a more pop sound, and promoted by singles "hash pipe" and "island in the sun"(probably their most popular song), it was a commercial success and received mostly positive reviews. after the green album tour, welsh left for health reasons and was replaced by scott shriner. make believe (2005) received mixed reviews but its single "beverly hills" became Weezer's first single to top the US Modern Rock Tracks chart.

saves the day

saves the day is an american rock band formed in princeton new jersey in 1997. the band currently consists of lead vocalist and guitarist chris conley, guitarist arun bali, bassist rodrigo pluma, and drummer claudio rivera. after forming under the name Sefler in 1994, Saves the Day released their debut studio album, can't slow down in 1998, followed by through being cool in 1999, which featured their first single, (and one of their most popular songs) "shoulder to the wheel." the band achieved mainstream success with the release of stay what you are in 2001, which sold 200,000 copies and spawned the MTV2 hit singles ''at your funeral" and "freakish" (also very popular.) in may 2021, conley was accused of sexual misconduct and grooming by a fan, prompting a statement from equal vision and conley, who took responsibility for some of his actions. equal vision quietly removed saves the day from their roster in April 2022 without an announcement. (all the good bands have to have some allegations, huh?). saves the day also has an EP (or LP) called "ups and downs". this is my favorite "album" from them. some songs consist of ups and downs, a drag in d flat, sell my old clothes i'm off to heaven, the way his collar falls, jessie and my whetstone, take our cars now!, and many other amazing songs. PLEASEEEE LISTEN TO IT!!!

for christmas , i got the saves the day ups and downs vinyl!! YAYY:D

poser

(TYPICALLY METAL GENRE) a poser is someone using a specific genre/band as a way to impress someone. for example, if your crush says they like the misfits, you buy a misfits shirt, not knowing any of their songs or anything about them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
little rant-
people keep saying that bands like SOAD, deftones and other "nu metal" bands are poser bands just because they don't sound like black sabbath, metallica, iron maiden, slayer, megadeth, etc. there are many different sub-genres in metal, and it shouldn't restrict to JUST thrash, death, or other "heavier" sub-genres. SOAD and deftones aren't even really nu metal, they just do what they like to do. they're not poser bands. like what you like, and listen to whatever you want to listen to.

someone: *sees someone in a nirvana shirt* "hey, what's your favorite nirvana song?"

poser:"uh.. I don't know any.. I just think its cute."

someone:"poser.."
