Since South Korea President Lee Myung-Bak
proclaimed âlow carbon green growthâ as a central tenant of Korean
economic growth, the Korean government has tried to define green growth in the Korean
socioeconomic context.
âGreen growth is
something that maximizes the synergy of both the environment and growth through their
circular structure. Namely, green growth is the concept of securing new growth opportunity
by making economic growth patterns eco-friendly.â
Energy conservation and efficiencyâ andlow-carbon green growth have emerged as the latest buzzwords. The Korea central government, businesses and local governments have joined hands to come up with diverse policies to conserve energy. But what is more important is the proactive participation of citizens in energy conservation and environmental protection.
