A market town in North East Cheshire (UK) since the middle ages, now the southern-most tip of the Greater Manchester conurbation. Home to two of the finest Grammar Schools around, one for boys, one for girls.
Communication in the industrial revolution was by the Bridgewater canal, them by the Manchester South Junction & Altrincham Railway.
Altrincham Has two ice-hockey teams.

Scottish cartoon character, the fore-runner of Bart Simpson. Permanently ten years old, although born in 1936. Lives in Auchenshoogle, most probably based on Dundee, home of Thompson publishing. His creator was cartoonist Dudley D Watkins.
