Chatspeak

Chatspeak, aka netspeak. This is a form of speech in which one shortens words and replaces the letter "s" with the letter "z" in an effort to save time and look cool. Chatspeakers also rarely use capitalization or correct punctuation.

Chatspeakers are generally looked down on by people who can actually spell and who have enough self-respect to type out a real sentence.

Chatspeak can never be considered 'literate.'

Examples:
Boys- Boiz
Girls- girlz, grlz, grrlz, gurlz
Mate- m8
Skater- sk8er
You- u
Are- r
Tonight- 2nite
Because- Bcuz

Et cetera.

Fursona

The 'persona' of an anthro artist-- the artist personified as a character in their art.

An anthro or 'furry' is an anthropomorphic animal-- that is, an animal that has human traits, or a human that has animal traits (ears, tail, fur, etc.)

A fursona is the artist's representation of themself as a furry.

"People are always giving me giftart... most of the time they draw my fursona for me!"

rp

Roleplaying. An interactive social activity for people with the ability to write and improvise.

Sadly, roleplaying is being invaded by people who can't write OR improvise OR follow common rules of etiquette.

By the way, roleplaying is a game. Anyone who thinks that it relates directly to real life any more than, say, Crazy Eights does might want to have their head examined.

"I'm going to go RP with my friends."

"I'm bored... let's RP."

OOC

Out Of Character. A term used in roleplay when a person wants to step outside of their character for a minute and speak as themselves.

OOC is shown in a couple of ways, commonly with a label or as double brackets.

((Can I say something for a sec?)) or

OOC: Can I say something for a sec?

OOC's antonym is IC, or BIC-- "In Character" or "Back In Character."

((I'll just step OOC for a second here to say that roleplaying isn't evil and it's not a cult. It's a game.))
