Luaka Bop Records has published artists such as David Byrne, Zap Mama, Susana Baca, Nouvelle Vague, Jim White, Los Amigos Invisibles, and King Chango, as well as a variety of world music compilations.

Afropea

a virtual continent based on the real world, as created by David Byrne while working with the Luaka Bop label. A fictional culture in which the ethos and attitudes of Europe are overlaid with African sensibilities.

Zap Mama's "Adventures in Afropea" album is heavily inspired by African and European vocal melodies.
