Minecraft Wii U Edition

A version of the popular sandbox game Minecraft published by Mojang AB and developed by 4J, and Microsoft Studios for the Nintendo Wii U. At its 2015 launch the game was praised for providing an authentic way to play Minecraft on Nintendo's flagship home console at the time, but received criticism for its lack of use of the Wii U Gamepad, and limited world sizes. The game received feature updates until 2018 when the game was discontinued. By then the game had sold 1.47 Million units making it one of the Wii U's higher selling titles. The game included the Nintendo exclusive Super Mario Mash Up Pack which made it the most expensive version of Minecraft at the time selling for $29.99 USD.

"Minecraft Wii U edition was the popular franchise's first step onto a Nintendo console."

Nintendo Wii U

The Nintendo Wii U is an eighth generation video game console designed and marketed by Nintendo Co. Ltd released in November in North America, and PAL regions, and released in December in Japan. The console was made to be a successor to popular Nintendo Wii which had sold 101 million units, however thanks to poor marketing, a confusing name which lead consumers to believe it was a new controller for the Wii, and poor third party support the Wii U was left in the dust by Sony's PS4, and even Microsofts poorly marketed Xbox one. By the end of its lifespan the Wii U had only sold 13 million units globally, and was considered a commercial flop by Nintendo. Former President of Nintendo of America Reggie Fils-Aime stated that despite its poor sales the Wii U would be remembered fondly by fans like the similarly poor performing Nintendo Gamecube, and he considered it a necessary step for the success of Nintendo's next major console, the Nintendo Switch.

"The Nintendo Wii U introduced an all new Gamepad controller with a touchscreen, and motion controls which allowed for asymmetrical multiplayer."

Game.Com

A portable video game console released by Tiger Electronics in 1997 which was meant to compete with the Game Boy, however sold less than 300,000 units, and was discontinued after a short 3 years on the market. The console was praised by some for its innovative internet features, but was also panned by others who disliked its dark black and white display and poor touch controls, and questioned weather an internet aimed device like the Game.Com would appeal to the same audience as the Game Boy. The console only had 20 games of questionable quality released for it, mostly made by Tiger themself.

"The Game.Com released by Tiger Electronics was a total failure!"
