Stina

Stina is a Swedish name, commonly mistaken for a short version of Christina. In reality, the Christ prefix was added during the Christianisation of the Viking tribes. The old form of the name comes from the northern Germanic words "Stei" which can still be found in modern English as "stay" and the negative affix "nah" which still can be used as a form of saying no. Stei-nah transformed to the easier written form of Stina through the ages and remains a name now claimed as being rooted in the Greek word Christianos meaning the blessed one.
In fact the name originated in a description of wavering persons who would run from problems, not stand with loyalty or behave selfish and opportunistically.
