Tell-ya-commuter

Different then a work from home telecommuter, a tell-ya-commuter spends every moment of their work commute talking on their cell phone with a relative, friend, or neighbor about whatever random mundane subject pops into their mind.

Although they had no reason to talk, Jim could expect a call from Dave every day at 8:07AM as Dave became a tell-ya-commuter on his way to the office.

ya done know

Of Jamaican origin. The literal translation to the standard North American English dialect would be "you already know" or, "you know it!". Used (to the writers knowledge) mainly in Toronto, Canada (in its North American variation) where it has found use among the wider (mostly younger) population and, of course, in its original Jamaican patois dialect everywhere Jamaicans are found (that's globally!).

Used to:

a) Emphasize the validity of a fact (usually stated immediately after the phrase) - e.g. "You done know they're running a scam."

b) Respond affirmatively to a query - e.g. Q: "Are you good for this money I'm lending you?" A: "You done know"

c) Express one's assent or agreement - e.g. A: "Boy, it's hot out today!", B: "You done know"

The phrase is also varied to fit the context of the conversation by changing the pronoun used (i.e. "She done know", "They done know", "I done know", etc.)

Jamaican dialect example:
"Yuh done know di gyal a lie 'bout 'ar panty size. Everybody know seh 'ar batty bigga dan dat!" (insert laugh here)

Who ya textin?

Rhetorical greeting, similar to "What's happening?" or "How do you do?"

The second "t" in "textin" is often dropped, (along with the passe "g"), so that it may be smoothly pronounced as "texin".

It's especially widespread in hip towns (ex. Madison, WI and Austin, TX), because it can almost be construed as a little funny in a mutually deprecating way.

Also popular with the youth, because texting excites them.

Grown Man #1: Oh geez, Lindsey, I didn't see you there behind the door. Who ya textin?

Grown Woman: Shut up, Paul, I am hiding. Back away and act normal.

Grown Man #2: Paul! Who ya textin, big guy! Say, have you seen a grown woman around here? I need to test her for something.
