the prisoner’s dilemma

When a person has been arrested and during their interrogation is wondering what to say based on their awareness of what the other witnesses may be saying.

So as Ambassador Gordon Sondland got some distance from his statements made weeks ago under oath, he began to experience the true depth and extent of the prisoner’s dilemma which of course led him to finally correct his testimony.

prison ninjas

Slang nickname for prison employees who work in the ISU (Investigative Services Unit) of the prison.

We‘ve got top notch spies here, you don’t work shoulder to shoulder with the prison ninjas, but they are here and they do a damn good job.

prison comby

A combination toliet / lavatory (sink) found in prison cells.
Often called a, "suicide-resistant prison comby" or, "ligature-resistant prison comby" because the toliet portion has no seat and only a small amount of water is present in the bottom of the bowl after flushing it -- this helps to prevent inmates from attempting to drown themselves or getting their heads between the seat & bowl.

Sometimes they are simply called an aluminum thunderflush because they flush quickly and loudly.

{Inmate}: Guard, my prison comby has no hot water and doesn't flush.

prisoner of the moment

1) Someone who thinks recent results will lead to the same results in the long term.
2) Someone who is focusing on something that just happened rather than the big picture.

3) Someone who's focus is narrow, focusing on the short term rather than the long term.
4) Often used as another term for "Recency bias".

Billy complained that his favorite sports team's season was over after they lost a game several weeks ago, but he was just a prisoner of the moment because they actually ended up winning the Championship.

prison spread

A meal made by inmates in prison. Typically spread is a Top Ramen base that can be augmented to a specific flavor by using chips, canned meat, or other foods that are also available in the prison store. Spread can vary by culture, as a Hispanic person may use different ingredients when compared to an Asian's spread.

Spread is an important part of prison life. It allows inmates, who are given their required meals, the ability to be creative and use culinary skills. Sharing spread in prison shows a sign of respect.

I was in the pen for 5 years and learned to make some mean prison spread with Fritos and canned chili.

brick prison

Better known as Hunter College High School in New York City. Earned this name due to its unique construction resembling a 19th century military fort. The building which houses the school is of a brick construction with very few windows, hence the name Brick Prison.

I can't wait to graduate and escape the brick prison
