The time of the day when TV is at its least interesting: usually anywhere from 12 midnight to about 8 AM on any given day, when the programming you're most likely to see is dull economic news, domestic political fare, and, worst of all, infomercials. REM=rapid eye movement, a stage of the dreaming process.
One thing I hate about being a security guard is having to come home to the REM slot when I want to watch TV!

A lonely, lifeless waste of human potential (normally overweight) that wastes all of their money pressing the same button on a slot machine whilst sipping Diet Coke.
