A phrase used do to the pre notion of someone saying something stupid, obnoxious, rude, or negative.
Matt walks in the door with a disgruntled look on his face. Liz is getting the kids ready for bed. The dishes aren't done.
Matt: thinking to himself "why aren't the dishes done?"
Liz:" shut your thoughts up!"
1. (adjective) Totally, permanently and irreversibly fucked. Similar to fubar but with the extra condition of being irreversible.
"Dude got t-boned by a semi going 70. He's fucked shut."
Using one's butt or hips to completely close an already locked door on a vehicle that is not completely closed.
I had to butt shut his car door to get the dome light to turn off.
When you try to type holy shit as fast as possible and miss both letters but simply do not care enough to fix it
