culture jam

Culture jamming, is the act of using existing media such as billboards, bus-ads, posters, and other ads to comment on those very media themselves or on society in general, using the original medium's communication method. It is based on the idea that advertising is little more than propaganda for established interests, and that there is little escape from this propaganda in industrialized nations. Culture jamming differs from artistic appropriation (which is done for art's sake), and from vandalism where destruction or defacement is the primary goal.

The word, "culture jamming" comes from the idea of radio jamming: that public frequencies can be pirated and subverted for independent communication, or to disrupt dominant frequencies. The Situationist International first made the comparison to radio jamming in 1968, when it proposed the use of guerrilla communication within mass media to sow confusion within the dominant culture. (Kalle Lasn, the founder of AdBusters magazine, wrote a book entitled Culture Jam, but the term predates his title.)

Culture jamming is a form of activism and a resistance movement to the hegemony of popular culture, based on the ideas of "guerrilla communication" and the "detournement" of popular icons and ideas. It has roots in the German concept of spass guerilla, and the Situationist International. Forms of culture jamming include adbusting, performance art, graffiti art and hacktivism (notably cybersquatting

culture vulture

A person or an organization making profit using unhonorable practices from a culture they do not care for.

Example in Music: Major record labels signing the latest viral rapper, exploiting them for the max returns even if their music sucks.

Example in TV Shows/Movies: Creating and popularizing a gay character in the pursuit of the LGBT community's cash.

Example in Video Games: Selling DLC for the same price of a full game, selling micro-transactions items that should be in a game for free to start with and selling Pay To Win items that will give players a huge advantage over other gamers in a competitive environment.

These people do not understand hip-hop culture, they just want to make a profit from it. Bunch of corporate culture vultures!

Cancel culture

Calling out an individual or a group publicly for offensive behavior in order to hold them accountable for their actions and force them to face consequences. This is mostly done on social media and is frequently mistaken as cyberbullying.

This phenomenon is quite controversial, with some seeing it as harmful and others seeing it as beneficial. And I'm on the former.

Although this tool gives everyone the ability to express themselves and empowers marginalized communities that have long been ignored. And, of course, to hold the "powerful" accountable.

It is by no means an excellent tool. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, can use this tool. Both the good and the bad. but mostly bad.

It's the equivalent of arming everyone, including children and teenagers (both literally and mentally) with firearms. However, unlike firearms, where police continue to hold people accountable for using their tools. People are free(alt account) to attack anyone who offends them even slightly.

And it doesn't have to be objectively offensive to the majority of people. So long as a small 'marginalized' group agrees with your sensitive heart. The cancellation process could then begin immediately.

Cancel culture is a powerful double-edged sword that we are providing to everyone. Meaning that the dumb people will use it frequently because it is powerful, whereas smart people will use it sparingly, i.e. rarely.

Remember, there are more adults with a child mentality than a child with an adult mentality.

1st conversation:
Person A: I can't believe they canceled that celebrity for something they said 10 years ago.
Person B: Well, they have to be accountable for their actions, even if it was in the past.
Person A: But shouldn't we forgive and move on?
Person B: Forgiveness is important, but we also have to hold people accountable and create a culture where harmful behavior is not tolerated.

2nd conversation:
Person A: Did you hear about that person who got canceled on social media?
Person B: Yeah, I'm really getting tired of cancel culture. It's like people are just looking for any reason to be outraged.
Person A: I know, right? It's like we're not even allowed to have differing opinions anymore.
Person B: Exactly. It's creating a toxic environment where people are afraid to speak their minds.

Cultural Appropriation

Something that both SJWs and far right white supremacists unanimously agree on.

SJW: "Oh my god, that white person is making a CURRY?! That is cultural appropriation and so wrong!"
White Supremacist: "I agree with you, white people need to stick to their own culture and shun anything created by black or brown people"

Cultural Appropriation

When a different culture adopts cultural traditions of another culture.

This's a very common process in diverse locations and open-minded people, in which multiple cultures accept and adopt others' traditions.

This's rarely a bad thing - examples of when "cultural appropriation" is when the Nazis adopted the Swastika (卍) from Indian religions and therefore gave it a bad name.

Barbaric philosophy of SJWs conclude that cultural appropriation is a grave sin. This SJW philosophy has very common traits with racial segregation, apartheid, racism, and likewise. Although SJWs believe that they're politically correct, this racist barbaric philosophy can easily be categorized under hate speech, discrimination, or racism, or in the support of thereof.

Cultural Appropriation is a very common result of diversity!
