Many definitions have been given that are accurate, but the meaning of the word 'Goth' is changing. For example in relation to 'Gothic' music, a lot of metal bands are now surfacing that are gothic-fusion or gothic inspired, and conform to some stereotypes of goth, but also do many different things in regards to sound or appearance.
Draconian is a gothic-doom metal band. They sound slow, and their riffs and soud is very dissonant and sorrowful.
Trail of tears is an operatic-gothic metal band, that are similar to bands like Nightwish, except they make use of Blast beats and screaming male vocals. Also the sorrowful riffs become present.

A clique that was created in the eighties. A Goth is a person who’s similar to an Emo, but less “Whiny”. The whole Goth culture surrounds the concept of being “unique” (against conformity) and hating the mainstream. These people are highly hypocritical in the sense that they claim to go against conformity yet conform to the Goth lifestyle. Due to the overwhelming amount of depressed teenagers in the world, being Gothic no longer goes against the mainstream. They have become part of the mainstream society and thus must conform to become a Goth.

~are kinder than the "normal" person
~are not emo
~are completely balanced emotionally despite common thought on outward appearance
~are beautiful
~strive for perfection
~are intelligent
~have experiences that set them apart from the levels of maturity among their peers
~are not always negative
~are understanding
~embrace the dark nature of humanity
~have a strong presence
~confident in who they are

This has several definitions.
1. East Germanic tribes who, in the 3rd and 4th centuries, harried the Roman Empire and later adopted Arian Christianity.
2. A style of architecture.
3. A lifestyle that shouldn't be judged.
4. Something that people need to stop classifying.
History Teacher: Today we're going to talk about the Goths.
Student 1: Who, the weirdos who hang around the art room?
Student 2: No, stupid, the Germanic Tribes.
Student 1: Oh.
Mom: Oh, look at that amazing Gothic architecture!
Child: yeah, whatever.
Guy: Oh man, look at those freaks! They are total goths! Mandy, darling, stay away from them. They'll eat you!
"Goth" kid: *laughs* You're calling me a freak?
Guy: I hate Goths.
"Goth": You need to get a life.

GOTHS : It is basically undefinable b'coz "GOTH" means different things 2 each followers. It is up 2 the individual to define wad GOTH is for themselves. As for me, Goth has the blood of a punk. It then survive on as its own subculture. But some says that goths originated in the medieval age...
About the dressings. Wearing all black does not mean u're goth. Because goths loves to be unique & be different from the others. They do not care what people gonna say about em' because they know that they've got their own originality not like those people who loves common things & be the same as the others...The norm people would dress up the same & follows the trend but goths does not envy popularity... & a goth does not like to dress up the same as the other goths do...
Being a goth is interesting. It does not matter what religion are u because Goth is a CULTURE & NOT A RELIGION! In music wise, it also depends on which type of goth music u like to listen to... eg. Goth rock, ethareal, darkambient etc... As for me, i preferred on listening 2 ethareal which is most characterized by saprano female vocls combined with almost classical or folk type instrumentation which creates a surreal, angelic or love spiral downwards. Ethareal music often contains opera-like vocals... Ethareal is a subdivision in itself, however it is grouped towards the darkwave end rather than the gothic rock end...

Goths differ to emos in that emos are unhappy about life, goths are just happy about black.

Goths are a group of people who are just being themselves and in most cases don't actually label themsevles goth ( they are against labels in general)goth people are often artistic in some form and very creative. goth people are not super depressed people who decide to ware all black to piss off their parants (those who do this are posers). they are their own culture and would rather be themselves then fit in amoung a cookie cutter society.
Also most people asume they can't have fun, guess what they do have fun and laugh just like everyone else.
