A crush is when you develop feelings toward another human, wether it be a boy or girl. You try to impress him/her, make him/her want to date you. usually it doesn't work like that, and you get rejected.
The reason they call it a crush is because your self confidence and will to live get crushed when they say "no I don't like you back"

Your crush could be someone you’ve known your whole life or it could be someone who you know nothing about. But what makes a crush is this: it’s someone you can’t get your mind off of, that you’re constantly thinking about. It’s someone who you don’t know what it is about them that you like so much, there’s just something there. It’s someone who fantasize yourself with whenever you’re lonely but you know you’re never actually going to be with. Maybe you tell your friends about this person and it becomes an inside joke, or maybe you keep your it your little secret. But most importantly, with a crush, the foundations of an actual relationship don’t have to be there, neither do the feelings- HAVING A CRUSH ON SOMEONE DOESN’T MEAN YOU LIKE THEM AS A PARTNER. “Crushing” on someone is it’s own type of feeling...

A crush has many meanings depending on how you interpret the word. This is what I think a crush is. A crush is a person that gives you a weird feeling inside. At first you wont be able to tell if its love. A crush is someone who you just want to be with. A crush is someone who even the imperfections make you like them. A crush is someone that's personality intrigues you. It seems as if your crush is the only one who truly understands you. It's as if you are a lock and they are the only key.
Jerry:"Hey Mary, I think I have a crush on you."
Mary:"so you mean you "like like" me?"
Jerry:"yea, like a crush. I think of you more then just a friend."
