Whiskey Row

The ten landmark-registered historic buildings on the 100 block of W. Main Street in Louisville, Kentucky. The Whiskey Row is a famous example of iron front architecture from the 1850's. One of the buildings, on the corner of S. 1st Street, is already gone. Seven of the remaining nine are currently being threatened with demolition in the near future if Louisville preservationists don't get their shit together and protest the mayor's indifference to our communities heritage and history.

Me: Can I have Thursday off?
Bossman: Why for?
Me: So I can get on down to the Save Whiskey Row rally, that's why for.

debt row

a place where used cars, trucks, boats, trailers, and other vehicles are parked for private sale--often to clear off debts. Usually a vacant lot or pull off in a high traffic or conspicuous place.

Now that the economy has tanked, there sure are a lot of trucks on debt row.

Row the boat

To keep it going; party on; to endure; or to move on to something new.

It's about to be a crazy weekend. Row the boat! / Hey, I gotta go do something right now. Row the boat! / Sorry to hear that, hope it all works out. Row the boat. / That event was lame. Let's row the boat!

death row

A record label that was home to the biggest artists from the west coast during the 90s. It once housed heavy hitters such as Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, and 2Pac. Now it is a place where rapper's careers go to die.

If you are an artist trapped on death row, your best chance to escape is to fake your own death (a la 2pac)

aspiring rapper: I just signed to death row.
friend: oh shit homie, you're screwed.
aspiring rapper: I know, I know, I was drunk and Suge was going to beat my ass if I didn't.
friend: you know what you gotta do? You gotta pull a 2pac.
