A compliment meant as false praise targeted at younger members of Generation Y just entering the workforce. Derived from the notion that Gen Y has grown up in an atmosphere of constant praise, particularly in popular sports like soccer, where kids plays for fun, no score is kept and everyone gets a trophy at season's end.
After the new intern finished that menial task, the boss gave her a soccer trophy just so she would feel appreciated.

They mainly just want what the other has to give. This type of Trophy Girlfriend usually becomes a Trophy Wife. She will only become a Trophy Wife after the woman the man truly loved leaves him because he messed around with the Trophy Girlfriend or the love of his life passes away.
