The Moses Effect can refer to a multitude of things. The main is to describe the effect a police car has on traffic on the motorways. For example, when a police car enters the motorway, the cars in front of the police part out of the police cars lane, and slow down to the point where they actually go behind the police car. This leaves a 3 lane wide open stretch of road in front of the police car. This is the parting of the sea of cars leaving open empty road, thus the moses effect. Known to cause heavy backups and traffic. Another form of the Moses effect can refer to the parting of people in the way of a person people fear, admire, or have extreme respect for. This time just, leaving an open stretch of walkway with hundreds of people lining eiether side. The Moses Effect is not imited to only these two uses.
As the Police Trooper merged on to the motorway, the Moses Effect took place, the cars all instantly slowed down and merged to the sides of the road. The Trooper took this to his advantage and enjoyed the endless span of road free of other cars.

The Palmer Effect: When a man turns a hot girl into a lesbian just by talking to her a few times. The girl effected suffers from Draper Syndrome. There is no known cure.
Friend 1: Man, he talked to Jen again today. Now she has decided to become a lesbian. She says guys just suddenly don't do it for her anymore, and she doesn't know why.
Friend2: Clearly Bob has a Palmer effect on women. He turns them gay within three conversations.

Based on the idea of sex-starved sailors who would see manatees frequently and eventually they began to see them as mermaids.
The mermaid effect totally kicked in when I was camping last week. That tree with the hole started looking pretty good by the end.

It's when you see a group of girls or guys and they look hot, but when you see each person individually they are NOT, that an effect, when they are in groups they look hot.

the act of stressing out in the weeks before a homecoming dance in regards to the possibilities of not having a date for the dance. side effects may include nausea, headache, upset stomach, and the all around feeling of hopelessness and depression as you have lost all confidence in your abilities.
Joey was experiencing the homecoming effect when he realized that he was single and needed a date for the homecoming dance.
