Boat Post

When someone anonymously creates an ad on Craigslist advertising that the poster lives in a large metropolitan area and has a free (or very cheap) boat that they've recently inherited and are desperate to get rid of ASAP.

The ad goes on to say that they don't respond to email, but to call any time - and lists the victim's cell phone number as the contact.

It's best to when the ad is posted very early in the morning, thus guaranteeing a daylong swarm of boat related calls, sometimes carrying over into the following days.

Classic Boat Post scenario:

4:30AM *Victim's cell phone rings*

Caller: "Hey, I'm calling about the boat you've got listed on Craigslist."

Victim: "Look, I don't know what the hell is going on, but I don't have a boat, ok? Someone must have pranked me."

Caller: "Oh... Wow that sucks. So, do you still have the boat?"

Victim: *Hangs up in frustration*

Repeat 100+ more times throughout the day

cross-posting

Posting the same message across multiple forums, listservs, newsgroups, etc.

Technically a form of spamming, though not always malicious.

Hi-rong had an urgent question, but cross-posting his message on all the listservs he knew left him banned and dishonored.

post-punk

Music that followed punk (in its truest sense). Tended to follow similiar ideals/ideas to Punk but thrived upon experimentation of sound. Punk ripped the rulebook of music up and post-punk follwed. Punk said that it didn't matter how well you can play your instrument as long as you have ideas and have a go. Post-punk bands reacted against the thre chord thrash formula that punk had become and widened its scope of ideas. It is a catch-all term that refers to a lot of very different bands that made music using ideas pulled from different places.

Post-Punk bands include the Slits, Talking Heads, Gang of Four,
types of music include art-punk, no wave, goth, ska revival, mod revival, indie...

Post No Bills

The phrase "Post No Bills" refers to many cities' laws which forbid the posting of handbills, or any type of signs on public property. Usually, in small towns and even large cities, the easiest way to get a lost item found or to advertise something (like a garage sale) is to staple signs to the various poles and walls outside where people can see them as they walk by. However, this can damage the poles, and it can make the walls look ugly, and it can detract from the view of the billboards in the area.

Often times, (at least, back in the day) these laws were protested by putting signs all over that said, simply, Post No Bills. This irony failed to amuse city governments, as there were often steeper penalties for these particular signs.
