Character.AI, also known as C.AI for short, is a cheap, poor-quality ripoff of ChatGPT. Its filter acts up all of the time no matter what, its bots are extremely crappy, its bot search is usually inaccurate, the members of the C.AI community which defend the developers only have likely 5 braincells at the maximum, and its bots' responses are absolutely terrible. Its bots tend to assume that the user is a blonde, petite female, tending to refer to the user as "princess", "brat", "petite", "doll", and so on so forth. It also overuses words such as "pang", always tends to have their expressions darken, always tends to blush, and always tends to have their smirk widen, along with always claiming to "tower over the user"; it's outright annoying, and from what I've observed, not that many C.AI users enjoy it.
The C.AI devs don't care about the users in the slightest, they only care about being payrolled with cash and taking away every single good feature while replacing it with useless features that nobody wants in the slightest. The internet would be a better place if the C.AI devs were given a similar fate to that of Tsar Nicholas II of Russia in 1918 or King Louis XVI of France in 1793, and not a single soul would miss the selfish C.AI devs if that were to hypothetically happen to them.
You should not be like the C.AI devs, especially if you plan on working on your own AI one day.
