Djent is slang for rent in the north east of the West Midlands (England). It comes from the mis pronunciation of rent by the early French immigrants who settled in the area in the late 1800's. It has since become common place especially with the advance or modern slang and ever changing vernacular of the youth of England.

"Djent" Is that sound you typically hear shortly after a 15 year old purchases his first 8 string guitar or after a 30 year old (who still lives at home) purchases his 12th 8 or 9 string guitar. These individuals require more expensive extended range guitars because they produce music which is far more complex and demanding than your average guitarist.
DJENT guitarists, or 'DJENTLEmen' are often misunderstood and criticized for not being able to play normal songs on normal guitars. This is due to the fact that whenever they try to play a 6 string guitar, they would often end up running out of strings.
The truth is, normal 6 string guitars were just not built well enough to handle the extreme talent and complex creative genius of a true DJENT player. The more expensive the guitar and the more strings it has, the better it will be at DJENTing.
DJENTers are the only guitarists capable of composing a piece of music containing only 1 to 3 different notes, or writing songs in a 1:3 / 1:4 note/string ratio meaning 1 note per 3 or 4 strings. Some of the more complex DJENT compositions have been reported of having up to 7 or even 9 notes.
DJENT is not for everyone, as some people's minds are just not advanced enough to comprehend the complex genius required to produce the perfect DJENT. It is a highly specialized technical procedure most cannot fathom and is often out of the comfort zone and achievable skill level for the average musician.
"My music professor gave me an F on this DJENT piece that I composed. I had to correct him that it was actually F#."
"Last night I broke my F# and B strings from DJENTing too hard. It sucks because those are the only two strings I use."
"What note are we gonna play today, F# or B?"
"I tuned my Les Paul down to drop C. Mind if I DJENT with you guys?"
"Bro... do you even DJENT?? Les Pauls only have 6 strings... They're not even DJENTable."
"Why don't we try playing some other notes for a change?"
"No0b please... can't you see we're trying to DJENT here?"
"We used to play songs that had rhythm and different notes but ever since Mark bought that goddamn 8 string Ibanez all he ever does anymore is DJENT."
"What's the purpose of having a baritone 9 string with fanned frets when you only use 3 frets on 2 strings?"
"You must be new here, now step aside and excuse me while I DJENT. My extended range guitar takes up a lot of space."
"I brought this chick home last night and when she saw my 8 string she asked me to play so I played her some new DJENT stuff I was working on. She never called back."
"I asked the guy at the guitar shop why he wasn't stocking any 8 strings and he said he didn't want to support DJENTrification in his neighbourhood."
"Devin got kicked out of Guitar Centre for playing Bleed by Meshuggah for 17 minutes straight."
"Connor got kicked out of his mom's house for playing by Meshuggah for 21 days straight."
