Sabotage

In politics a party or influence group often creates public acceptance of a goal by associating it with emotionally-laden imprecise buzzwords. National defense, preventing sexual trafficking and support for the arts are examples that are effective for different demographics. As the key bill is about to be passed, or the purchase contract is near being finalized, what the promoters most fear is serious analysis of the full costs and range of effects.

The political or media strategy then becomes vilifying those who oppose it, and depicting such effort as "sabotage" can be effective It contains the tacit message that those who are expressing such sentiments, especially if they are fact based, are actually using underhanded methods that the audience is warned against attending to.

This usage is a way of saying, "don't confuse me with the facts!"

Beware of those who will "sabotage" the contract that the city has signed for the expensive land purchase just as we are reaching the end of the contingency period.

family sabotage

When you're single, your parents and married siblings, often with children, are demanding of your time. They expect you to attend their functions or aid them with little or no notice, and with little or no appreciation. Since you don't have a spouse or children, they incorrectly assume that you're not as busy as them. Work, social events, dating, and friendships suffer because of it. This prevents you from getting even because it impedes your search for a mate with whom you can procreate. It's difficult to ever get retribution, especially as a youngest child. This is common with ethnicities with strong family bonds who use guilt to maintain closeness, such as, italians, mexicans, armenians, indians, persians, and jews.

Heather: Hey Jenny, are you going to the match.com event tonight?
Jenny: I can't, family sabotage, I have to help my niece with her homework tonight.

James: Dude, are you going to Stephanie's birthday party tonight?
Henry: Ugh, no, family sabotage, I have to babysit my nephew.

Self-Sabotaging

One who keeps screwing things up for themselves. Usually not on purpose.

God why did I blurt that out to him? I need to stop self-sabotaging my life.
