The swinger symbol "The swing" has been opted by the swinger community to identify each other in public on wristbands and accessories. The symbol shows a simplified black swing surrounded by a circle on a red background. The swing is very abstract to assure discretion and leave space for imagination. Red represents Passion, Love and Stimulation. Black shows mystery, limits and secrecy. The abstract swing represents the swinging lifestyle. The circle is associated with the group and the community sharing the same interests and the strong bond in couples.
It's often difficult to recognize other swingers in public. They don't have a tag on the forehead with a note like: "I am a swinger and I am looking for a great time with like-minded people". Fortunately, some wear the swing symbol on their wristband or clothes to make contacts easier.

Normally used in the context of acoustic jazz, but equally applicable to fusion, jazz-funk, etc. Not be confused with "swing" as a genre. (While a good Swing musician must know how to "swing," one can swing in just about any genre involving improvised music).
