I let you win

The act of someone losing fair and square and not being able to handle that they got beat, a form of denial that plagues very competitive people. Getting your ass handed to you and thinking up the dumbest excuse there is.

whatever, i let you win

Even when you win you lose

Is a moment when a person has beaten the odds but has still lost for not seeing the bigger picture.

Shorten version(s): EWUWUL / WBL

You have lost this battle.
You have defeated only a small portion of our army.
Even when you win you lose.

Play 'til you win

A patronizing remark to others' misfortune; c'est la vie.

"I just failed three classes and I'm not so hot with the ladies."

"Play 'til you win, Dude."

You win some, Jerusalem

A phrase lamenting that sometimes things go your way, and sometimes they do not. A proverbial shrug of the shoulders and a humble acceptance that we do not possess the power to control everything and we must be content to let the chips fall where they may.

Contrary to the vernacular... it has nothing to do with the region pertaining to Jerusalem or any other aspect of Jewish culture. Just a play on words people.

Guy: Fuck man, I took two subways and a cab to get this show and all the tickets are sold out.

Unsympathetic Friend: Eh, you win some, Jerusalem. Fuck it, let's go bowling.

Friend 1: How's it going with that new chick... the one with the bug eyes, cute tits and pompadour?

Friend 2: Eh, turns out she's got a lot of baggage and has a biting case of Baby Rabies

Friend 1: Damn, that sucks.

Friend 2: What are you gonna do?... You win some, Jerusalem.. right?

You win a few, lose a lot

A more serious incarnation of the commonly used phrase "you win some, you lose some". "You win a few, lose a lot" is meant to express the feelings of constantly losing or being screwed over despite trying your best.

Guy 1:"Hey man what did you end up getting in your math class?"

Guy 2: "I bombed the final and got a D in the class."

Guy 1: "Damn well are you still going out with that girl you met a few weeks ago?"

Guy 2: "No she ended up going back to her ex. It's like they say you win a few, lose a lot."

If you touch a horse, you win the divorce!

A common idiom from 18th century Britain, first coined by Sir John Walters in reference to his ex-lover Caroline Milcke. The original phrasing, β€œplace thy hand on a horse, and be victorious in the divorce.” This obscure idiom was adopted by 19th century romantics and its popularity grew exponentially. As of the early 20th century, the phrase was adapted to its current wording by Elizabeth Williams.

Well, you know what they say! If you touch a horse, you win the divorce!
