Diet Ads

Those retarded ads that say "Eat this and never diet again" or "People call this the holy grail of dieting"

*Guy 1 on the internet searching for things on a website*
*Sees dieting ad that says "Eat this and never diet again" but is really saying "Click on this ad and get a bunch of spam mail"*
Guy 1: I FUCKING HATE THESE DIET ADS!!!
Guy 2: Huh?
Guy 1: LOOK!!!
Guy 2: Oh...let's track down its IP address and kill the creator of it.

ad negrus

An attack upon an opponent in order to discredit their arguement or opinion.
The ad negrus fallacy exposes prejudice towards a set individual producing an argument, and its validity, based on skin tone or racial background.

Person A: It is crucial that we facilitate adequate means to prevent degradation that would jeopardize the project.
Person B: You're literally black, ebonically gatekept.
Person A: That's a fallacy ad negrus, me being black has nothing to do with the validity of my thoughts and opinions!

ad-buffer

When one pauses live television to create an allotment of recorded time. This allows the viewer the ability to fast forward through any unwanted commercials.

Before watching "Family Guy" my bro pauses it to create an "ad-buffer" so as to avoid any commercials.

ad load

The number of ads that Facebook or Twitter show you in the newsfeed or stream vs non-ads content.

This is how it was used in a recent earnings call:
I think you talked about being very conservative in terms of ad load. Could you quantify a little bit how you think about your ad load versus what else is out there in the industry, say, Facebook's 5%, how we should think about where your ad load is versus there and versus where it could go in the future? And then any quick comments on the adoption of the Amplify product?

As it relates to ad load, we're not going to share a specific number. But I think if you were to just look at the ad load even as a user, you would see that it's very light. And as I said, light relative to others in the industry, and we believe very much even on an absolute basis. So we're very cognizant about that ad load. And as far as taking ad load up, as I mentioned, there was a modest increase in Q4. That was again largely driven by the fact that we had high-quality advertiser demand and, therefore, high-quality relevant ads to share with our users. So we look at that as a key component in how we would drive ad load going forward.

Ad Newseum

The feeling one gets during a long news cycle when all forms of media continue to report the same information over and over and over and over again. Ad Newseum is characterized by irritability, nausea, abusive language and remarks hurled at televisions and computer screens and generalized impatience.

The Ad Newseum caused by all this repetitive covid-19 coverage is intense. If I hear one more time, just one more time, about toilet paper hoarding or social distancing, I swear I'm going to put the tv through the f-ing wall!!!
